Route and install

Hydraulic hose routing and minimum bend radius

Route without twist, sharp bends, rubbing, heat exposure, or tension through the machine’s full movement.

Good

Smooth bend, straight entry, no twist

Avoid

Sharp bend at fitting, rubbing, or tension

Route the replacement through the full machine movement

  1. Start from the installation diagram

Match the pipe number or callout and the two connected components. Photograph the original route before removal.

  2. Keep a straight section at the fitting

Do not force the hose into a bend immediately after the crimp. Use the manufacturer’s routing guidance.

  3. Stay above minimum bend radius

The hose family and size determine the minimum radius. A tighter bend shortens life and may restrict flow.

  4. Remove twist

Use the layline as a visual guide. A spiral layline after installation is a warning that the hose is twisted.

  5. Protect contact points

Use the correct clamps, sleeves, guards, or heat protection without creating new hard wear points.

  6. Cycle the machine slowly

After safe installation, check the route through full movement for pulling, pinching, rubbing, over-bending, and contact with hot or moving parts.

Final routing check

  • No twist visible in the layline.
  • No bend tighter than the hose manufacturer’s minimum radius.
  • No rubbing on metal edges, other hoses, tyres, or moving linkages.
  • No direct heat exposure beyond the hose or sleeve rating.
  • No tension, crushing, pinching, or fitting side-load at any machine position.
  • Clamps and guards hold the route without damaging the cover.
